Jim Huston is a Founder and Managing Director of Portland Seed Fund. Portland Seed Fund is an early stage venture firm focused on small, “first capital in” seed deals in the Portland Metro and greater Oregon region. Jim brings more than 25 years of technology industry experience, having worked with and invested in early stage technology companies throughout the world. From 2004-2010 Jim was a Managing Director with Blueprint Ventures, a Bay Area technology growth capital firm. From 1995-2004, Jim served in numerous positions within Intel Capital, the world’s largest corporate venture organization. While at Intel Capital, Jim served as the Director of Strategic Investments and led investments in 16 companies and nine acquisitions; in addition, he established and managed Intel’s Patent Purchase Fund from 2002-2004. Jim has an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.
When Jim is not helping entrepreneurs build their companies, he tries to stay fit enough to run with his yellow Lab, likes to play tennis with his wife (and even win occasionally), and dreams of becoming a professional soccer player when he figures out how to regain the speed and fitness of a 20 year old.
